Blogging in a Pandemic

About three months later and I'm back to the blog. I've been meaning to do this for a while, but life was crazy up until the pandemic chaos. We were actually out of town when all the real pandemic pandemonium started, so returning home was slightly different. We've been under a "shelter in place" order in our town since March 24th and we've only left the house once to check our PO BOX. Weird. Had this all happened in the dead of winter, I would've been fine. I never leave the house if the temperatures are below my age. Now, the temperatures have been pretty great most days and if I leave my house it's to walk to the mailbox. I'm ready for it all to be over.

There are some cool things that have come as a result of spending more time at home. First of all, my business is booming! It all started around January and I've been SO BUSY keeping up with everything. That also may be why my blogging has been nonexistent since then. Spending more time at home, though, and no getting distracted with errands or other responsibilities has helped me be so productive in my job. I'm hoping that the work I'm putting in now will help things become a little more manageable when life gets back to something more normal.

I've also started a podcast! It's been something I've been wanting to do for quite a while now. I've already recorded 7 episodes! I feel like I'm such an achiever with all this consistency! It's been fun and I'm realizing just how many words I have deep inside. Too many, probably. At any rate, you can catch me over on Spotify (wish iTunes would get their act together...they take SO LONG to approve a new podcast)!

I've also done quite a bit of spring cleaning! Once the weather is a bit more predictable with warmer temperatures, I'll tackle my closet and move out the winter clothes and move in the spring and summer ones. I'm pretty excited about that. I was also pretty excited about baseball, but so far that seems like it's nowhere near being in my future adventures.

A simpler time...when COVID wasn't around to stop Opening Day.
I'm also daydreaming about another trip to NYC. Sadly, though, that also seems like it's a long way out of view for the near future. It's crazy to think if our trip had come just a few months later than what it did, we may not have gotten out of there unscathed. I mean, I still returned home with feet swollen to the size of a grapefruit from all the walking, but if I'd had a virus with that I might not have had a desire to go back so quickly.

I'm thankful throughout all this craziness, though, that I still have a job (albeit, D lost some of his work in the school district). We still have our health. The family is still doing really well (we even added a little niece. Haven't gotten to meet her yet...Rona saw fit to ruin that). But we're all here. Are you? Sure...maybe with a few less dollars in your pocket and less food and TP in your home. But you're here. At least you are if you're reading this. So, for you, there is hope.

That's all for now. It's actually insanely late while I'm writing this and I should've been sleeping a long time ago. But it's a Friday night. Doesn't every night seem like Friday night these days?
